BODY ACTIVES GUIDE

Radical Transparency. Purposeful Formulas.

We believe you deserve to know exactly what you put on your body. Every ingredient in LYMPH8 is carefully selected for a specific purpose — with no unnecessary extras. Our philosophy is simple: less, but better. We keep only what is effective, purposeful, and designed with your skin and body in mind.

HYDRATION & BARRIER

Glycerin A humectant — it pulls water into the upper layers of skin and holds it there. On the body this matters more than people think: legs, arms and torso have fewer oil glands than the face, so they lose water faster and go rough and ashy. Glycerin also helps the skin's own barrier repair itself, which is why it appears in almost every well-built body formula.

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) One of the most studied ingredients in skincare. It supports the skin's production of ceramides and fatty acids, which reduces transepidermal water loss — skin holds moisture better over time. It also helps even out tone (useful for post-inflammatory marks on legs, shoulders, décolleté) and improves texture. Well tolerated at the concentrations used in body products.

CIRCULATION & WARMING

Methyl Nicotinate A vitamin B3 derivative and a true vasodilator. Applied topically it widens the small vessels near the surface, so blood flow to the area increases and the skin flushes and feels warm within minutes. It also acts as a penetration enhancer, helping other actives move through the stratum corneum. The reaction is real, visible and temporary — typically 20–60 minutes.

Vanillyl Butyl Ether A vanillin derivative used purely as a warming agent. It produces a gentle, even heat sensation without the sharpness of chili-derived warming ingredients (capsaicin). Paired with methyl nicotinate it gives a warming effect that builds gradually instead of hitting all at once.

Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract Contains gingerols and shogaols — the compounds responsible for ginger's warmth. Mildly circulation-stimulating and a solid antioxidant, meaning it helps neutralize free radicals generated in the skin by UV and environmental stress.

SENSORY & COOLING

Menthol Activates TRPM8, the cold receptor in the skin, so the brain registers cooling even though skin temperature barely changes. It's also a mild counter-irritant, which is why it reads as "relief" on tired, heavy legs. In a warming formula, menthol creates the hot-cold contrast that makes a wrap feel active.

FIRMING, TONING & VASCULAR SUPPORT

Caffeine A methylxanthine with strong topical credentials. It's a mild vasoconstrictor — it temporarily tightens small surface vessels, which is why it visibly reduces puffiness and water retention in the skin. It also inhibits phosphodiesterase, and it's a genuine antioxidant. Honest framing: caffeine improves how skin looks — smoother surface, less swelling, better definition — it does not remove fat.

Aesculus Hippocastanum (Horse Chestnut) Seed Extract Its active fraction is aescin, one of the best-documented venotonic compounds in cosmetics. Topically it supports capillary wall integrity and reduces fluid leaking into surrounding tissue — the mechanism behind puffiness and that heavy-leg feeling at the end of a long day.

Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract Rich in tannins, which bind to surface proteins and create an immediate astringent, tightening effect. It also calms redness and irritation, which is useful in any formula that contains warming agents.

ANTIOXIDANT & BRIGHTENING

Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Extract The peel is where citrus flavonoids and limonene concentrate — antioxidant activity plus a fresh, clean scent profile. Worth knowing: cosmetic-grade lemon peel extract should be furocoumarin-reduced, because furocoumarins are the compounds behind citrus photosensitivity. Standardized extracts used in professional formulas are processed for exactly this reason.

EXFOLIATION & SKIN RENEWAL

Lactic Acid An alpha hydroxy acid, and the gentlest of the group because its larger molecule penetrates more slowly than glycolic. It loosens the bonds holding dead cells to the surface, so skin sheds them evenly instead of building up. On the body it's the single best answer to rough upper arms, bumpy thighs (keratosis pilaris) and dull, flaky shins. Lactic acid is also a natural moisturizing factor — unlike most acids, it hydrates while it exfoliates.

**********

HOW THIS READS AS A FORMULA Three mechanisms stacked in one product:

  1. Increase circulation (methyl nicotinate, vanillyl butyl ether, ginger) — warms tissue, opens surface vessels, and helps everything else absorb.
  2. Reduce fluid retention and tighten (caffeine, horse chestnut, witch hazel) — the visible smoothing and de-puffing effect.
  3. Improve skin quality over time (lactic acid, niacinamide, glycerin) — this is the part that compounds with repeated use rather than lasting a few hours. The circulation and tightening effects are immediate and temporary. The skin-quality effects are cumulative. Saying that clearly is what separates an educational brand from a hype one.
